Gerald Eve signs ‘Time to Change’ mental health pledge

Gerald Eve has become a signatory to the Time to Change pledge, an initiative designed to tackle the stigma associated with mental ill health.

Signing the pledge demonstrates Gerald Eve’s commitment to not only ending the stigma and discrimination faced by people with such issues, but also to support employees who are struggling with their own mental health and to encourage everyone to be open about their own experiences.

The Time to Change initiative is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Health, and is centred on the premise that the attitudes of others stop people with mental health problems receiving the help and support they need. Gerald Eve’s signing of the pledge coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week.

HR director at Gerald Eve, said: “While much progress has been made, there remains a societal stigma that is preventing many people from receiving the support they need. As an employer we have a role in trying to change those attitudes though our culture, policies and the resources available to staff, and becoming a signatory of the Time to Change pledge demonstrates Gerald Eve’s commitment to addressing this crucial issue.”

Gerald Eve has taken the lead on a range of external welfare and diversity initiatives, helping to drive change within the sector. The firm has worked with Stonewall and Changing the Face of Property to improve inclusion across the industry and is a signatory of the Open Plan Diversity Charter and the RICS inclusive Employer Quality Mark.
