I joined Gerald Eve in 2017 having spent the previous 23 years working in assessor’s offices; my last post was as a Divisional Assessor within Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute Valuation Joint Board.

My key clients include: Scottish Power, SSE, Dobbies, Klondyke/ William Strikes Ltd, Ventient Energy, Hansteen, Local Authorities – City of Edinburgh Council, Midlothian Council, West Dunbartonshire Council and Stirling Council.

I am the Scottish Rating advisor for the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH&HPA) and also for the Horticultural Trades Association(HTA).

MY RECENT PROJECTS

• Local Authority Schools – I was involved in central discussions with the Scottish Assessor’s Association resulting in a change to the basic rate applied to schools for the 2017 Revaluation. This was carried through to local appeal discussions with the various Assessors. Overall for City of Edinburgh, Midlothian, Stirling and West Dunbartonshire Councils the rates saved amounted to over £6 million over the five-year period of the 2017 Revaluation.
• Large Shops – I have dealt with a number of Revaluation Appeals for large shop clients in Scotland including Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and Boots – to date overall rates savings in this sector have amounted to over £7.5 million.
• Wind Farms – I have represented EDF, Ventient Energy (formerly Infinis), Fred Olsen, RES  and Greencoat Capital in a number of Revaluation appeals for wind farms in Scotland. Successful appeal resolution has resulted in over £8 million in rates savings for these clients.
