Simon Green

I am a national council member and chair of the Valuation Faculty Board of the IRRV. I am a member of The Rating Surveyors’ Association and sit on the RICS Rating and Local Taxation Advisory Forum. I also act as APC Counsellor for graduate surveyors within the firm and am an RICS APC Assessor.

I deal with all rating matters for clients and have handled appeals for a wide range of property types for over 25 years with particular emphasis on the manufacturing, distribution and general industrial sectors.

I provide strategic rating advice on many nationwide portfolios covering all aspects of rate management, appeal strategy and other non-appeal related rating matters including advice in respect of strategies to minimise empty rate liabilities

MY RECENT PROJECTS

• I have been keeping clients across all sectors updated with the various business rates related measures introduced by Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
• I have co ordinated responses to ongoing Government consultations in respect of the business rates system and assisted clients and the IRRV in submissions to the Treasury Select Committee in respect of its enquiry into the Impact of Business Rates on Businesses.
• I have been involved in advising clients on the impact of recent UK Supreme Court decisions, particularly concerning buildings subject to schemes of redevelopment and the unit of assessment.
